AHSTC Member News 6/2

Dear Members,

We are looking forward to what looks like a great week of weather to celebrate the pool and tennis courts!

Thank you for remembering to drive slowly along 31st Street SW. Our neighbors, their children, and their pets appreciate your caution.

HR Consultant Needed

The Board of Trustees seeks an experienced HR consultant to advise on an AHSTC employee manual and on Washington state regulation for employers. If you are interested or if you know someone who might be interested, please reach out to ah-president@ahstc.com with a resume and email introduction. Thank you!

Adult Tennis

Registration is now open! Beginner classes will have a maximum of 6 players and Intermediate/Advanced will have 8 per court. All classes and lessons will be held on Court 3. Live Ball Class will be on Courts 3 and 4 to maximize the number of participants and minimize disruption on the neighboring court.

🗓️ Spring Tennis starts on 6/2, as a reminder spring tennis is a separate signup this year from summer, feel free to register through 6/20

✅ TeamSnap: Please make sure you’re signed up for TeamSnap if you haven’t already. All practice or match cancellations will be communicated through the app, so it’s important to stay connected there.

📅 RSVPs: No need to RSVP for weekly practices, but once matches begin in a few weeks, it’ll be very important to RSVP so we can plan accordingly.

👋 Coaches at Practice: Head Coach Kai and Assistant Coaches Lori and Clara will all be at practice this week. Feel free to say hi or ask any questions!

🎾 Tennis Balls – As a reminder, bring one can of tennis balls per child for the season

Swim Team

Returning families- please register ASAP if your swimmer is planning to swim this summer! Yes, you technically have another couple of weeks but Coach Chris and Jojo are busily planning Otter Families for 2025, and are keen to know who is and isn’t returning- especially Seniors and 14s. As a reminder, swimmers should be registered before they begin practice–we will start cross-checking rosters this week.

OTTER’S CLUB

Are you scrambling to finalize activities for your child when school’s out? There is still time to register for the Arb’s new Otter’s Club.

https://ahstc.com/otters-club/

Otters Club is a program that provides activities, snacks, and supervision for registered youth members each weekday from 9 am to 1:30 pm.

Otter’s Club is managed by Anja Vander Hijde. Here’s a little about Anja:

Anja Vander Hijde will be the lead for Otters Club! I am a native West Seattle-ite and attended university in Arizona at Grand Canyon University, where I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology as well as a Minor in Criminal Psychology and Counseling. I have been working in childcare for the past 12 years in various settings – from babysitting, to nannying, to after school enrichment. You may recognize me from working in the office the last 4 summers. I am very excited to get this program rolling and to hang with your kiddos!

Manager Corner

Friendly reminder for early bird lap swimmers: please do not enter the pool until 5:30 or when the lifeguards are ready. Getting in before they have the covers off and their chairs with rescue tubes set up is a huge safety issue because they aren’t focusing on you in the pool; they are still trying to get set up. Lap swim starts 5:30 am and must be out of the pool at 7:15 am.

Thank you,
Lifeguard Staff

Have a fantastic week,

AHSTC Board of Trustees
