Lap Swim Reservations

Now that King County is in phase 2 of the governor’s reopening plan, AHSTC is able to offer lap swimming. We are limited in the number of swimmers per session so we will be using a reservation system. See below for instructions and frequently asked questions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for Lap Swim

This is new territory for all of us! We came up with questions that we thought members would ask and created this FAQ. We appreciate your patience as we work through all the kinks. If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at AHSTCfeedback@gmail.com.

Q: How many swimmers will there be during each session?

A: We will have 12 members per session, one swimmer per lane (60+ Lap Swim will have a limit of 6 members per session).

Q: When will lap swim be offered?

A: Monday through Friday we will offer two sessions in the mornings and six sessions in the afternoons and evenings. Saturday and Sunday, we will offer four afternoon sessions.

Each session is 45 minutes in the pool, allowing 15 minutes afterwards to shower, dry off, and exit the facility before the next session begins.

Q: How far in advance can I reserve a lane?

A: We are offering reservations 7 days in advance. The system adds the 7th day at midnight a week before.

Q: How often can I reserve a spot?

A: Each member can reserve a lap swimming lane once per day, not to exceed 7 total spots in a week.

Q: Does that mean everyone in my family can reserve a swim lane once a day?

A: Yes, but we strongly encourage you to be considerate of others and only reserve those times during which you know you will attend. We will consider appropriate action for those members who are no-shows for reserved swim lanes. If you make a reservation and need to cancel it, login to your account and go to MY RESERVATIONS in the light blue menu bar.

Q: Will there be a session for swimmers over 60 or swimmers who are in a vulnerable group?

A:  We will be offering three additional sessions during the week for our members who are 60+ or in a vulnerable group. These sessions will only have a max of 6 swimmers (1 per lane).

Tuesdays and Thursdays – 1:00 – 1:45pm
Sundays 10:00am-10:45am

Q: Who is allowed to swim during the adult lap swim on the weekends?

A: Any member 18+ may swim during the adult lap swim time.

Q: Can I just show up and lap swim?

A: No, and this is really important: all swimmers must make a reservation. There are no exceptions. Lap swimmers will check in at the front desk and then proceed to an open lane or showers.

Q: If someone doesn’t show up for their reservation, can I take it?

A: No. You must make a reservation to swim.

Q: If I get there early can I sit on the pool deck and wait for my session to begin?

A: No. To meet King County and State of Washington regulations, we will not be able to let members in until the beginning of their session. We will have you wait at the check in window (with proper social distancing). You may also wait in your car until your session is about to begin.

Q: Can I stay after my lap swim time and BBQ or have a drink with a friend?

A: No. To meet regulations, all members must exit the facility by the end of their reserved session time.

Q: Do I need to wear a face mask?

A: AHSTC is requiring that a mask be worn when checking into the facility. This is a King County Department of Health requirement and is meant to keep everyone safe. It is not necessary to wear a mask on the pool deck previous to entering the water.

Q: Is it possible to do a deep water workout in the dive tank?

A: Yes, you would still need to register for a lap lane. We are not able to add another lap swimmer because we are limited on the number of people that can be in the facility.

Q: Is there a separate exit process?

A: Please exit through the gate near the BBQs. This will keep everyone safe and allow the incoming swimmers to enter efficiently.

Q: Can any member participate in lap swim?

A: Lap swim is open to members aged 10 and up.

Q: Can I bring my child with me to lap swim?

A: Children 10-17 are welcome to lap swim. However, they require their own lane reservation. Our reservation system makes it easy to reserve for all members on your account. Please note that children will not be allowed to sit on the pool deck while you swim.

Q: My friend and I like to swim at the same time. Can we split a lane?

A: No. Each swimmer must reserve their own lane. This keeps us in accordance with King County Department of Health regulations. At this time there are no guests allowed at AHSTC.

Q: I have an infant in a baby bucket, can I bring her and leave her on the pool deck while I swim?

A: No. We cannot allow anyone but guards and lap swimmers on the pool deck.

Q: Can I use the shower or the bathroom?

A: Yes, you may use the new bathhouse.

Q: Will there be lifeguards on duty?

A: Yes, we will have two lifeguards on duty for each lap swim session.

Q: Am I allowed to use the AH fins, buoys or kickboards?

A: Yes, you may use the AHSTC swim equipment. Please place used equipment by the lifeguard chair when you are finished so it can be cleaned before the next use.

Q: Will there be concessions for sale?

A: Not during modified Phase II.

Q: Will you add more lap swim times?

A: We are looking at all the programs we may be able to offer given the current safety and public health limitations. We will be considering additional lap swim in addition to other activities that allow members to use the pool safely.

Q: Are you doing additional cleaning at the pool to keep me safe?

A: We are implementing additional cleaning procedures in accordance with local requirements, as well as installing hand sanitizer stations and providing disinfecting sprays for members to us.
